ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2011
January 5, 2012
To the towns of Belvidere, Eden, Hyde Park, Johnson and Waterville
Dear Boards and Citizens,
Our call volume for 2011 was up from 2010 total of 1,108 calls to 1335. Of these a total of 631 were emergency 911 calls. The breakdown of those emergency calls for the towns is as follows; Belvidere 17, Eden 98, Hyde Park 202, Johnson 302 and Waterville 32.
Due to the 2010 census you will notice some changes in how your town is being billed to share the cost of our service one went down and the rest are up. We are asking for a two percent increase over all. The increase in no way covers the lost that we have incurred this year. Our per-person cost has gone down from $22.24 to $21.44 due to the changes in population.
In Calendar year 2011 we had to write off $343,493.92 to Medicare and Medicaid payments. If we didn’t have this write off we would be able to offer the service without cost to your towns unfortunately that is not the case. With the uncertainty of health care and the national budget, getting paid for what we do doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon from government sources.
Act 142 that was signed into law last year has changed the rules and laws for us and over this last year we have invested over $14,000.00 to meet the new requirements. We have also purchased one new Ambulance in the last year and are about to fix a design problem with the building in Johnson.
We thank the citizens of the five Towns’ for their support and look forward to serving them in the future.
Sincerely,
Michael Paradis
Executive Director
