The Lanpher Library has grown and changed in many ways in the five years since the building addition.  We are proud of our growth, and of the ways we’ve stayed the same too!  With descriptions from library users such as: “anchor of the community” and “the place where neighbors come to meet”, the library is seen as much more than a nicety, but for many, a necessity.  Folks who haven’t been in the library before walk around in wonder and appreciation of the space, and those who’ve used the library consistently since their days as students at LCA are proud to still be using the building and services they grew up with.

With all of the changes in technology over the years, the Lanpher Library is doing our best to accommodate.  In addition to the 5 public access computers, we also have 2 laptops for public use.  We subscribe to a downloadable audio book & e-book service through listenupvermont.org, we provide access to hundreds of databases through the Vermont Online Library, and we have a website of our own: www.lanpherlibrary.org  The biggest change in technology at the library will be when we automate later this year.

We offer 2 weekly story time programs and a 3rd in the summer.  We have had a wide range of programs for adults and collaborate with many organizations to provide variety in programming. Our meeting space has been used by over 50 groups over the past 5 years.  Local artists can now display their work at the library and have drawn in members of the community who have never visited the library before.

Ruth Hay, our Assistant Librarian is a valuable employee who balances our services with her insight and ideas. We are grateful to the volunteers who dedicate their time so that the library runs smoothly and efficiently.  Lois McGee, Shoshana, Aliza and Noah Silverstein, Sandy Bowen, Alma Draper, Ramona Harris, Christi Dussault, Maria Colombo, Robin Aither, Joan Hazeltine, Kathy Geiersbach, Carol Olsen, & Katie Mathison-Regan…your work is very appreciated and we Thank You.

Respectfully Submitted,
Amy Olsen, Library Director
