HYDE PARK CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS
2009 REPORT

The Hyde Park Cemetery Commissioners supervise the cost and maintenance of four cemeteries in the Town of Hyde Park – the Holbrook Cemetery, Center Cemetery, Village Cemetery and Jedediah Hyde Cemetery. Cemeteries operating under their own association are disperses an amount of $1,375.00 in monies appropriated by the Town of Hyde Park.

Several complaints regarding the Village Cemetery were received this past year. During the Commissioners’ site walk, it was noted that there were several broken stones, sunken graves and repairs needed to fence. Robert Foss volunteered to work on these repairs.

The Holbrook Cemetery sign was removed during the summer for repairs to be done by The Johnson Family who built the sign. Thank-you to the Johnson Family for continuing to oversee the care of this sign.

We contacted other Cemetery Commissioners in our area and found that our lots were being sold much less than others. It was decided to increase the price of a single lot (4x12) as of July 1, 2009 to $200.00. As of April 1, 2010, the price of a single cemetery lot will increase to $250.00.

Signs stating “No Dogs Allowed in Cemetery” will be posted.

Our caretaker finished the 2009 season and will not be returning in 2010. Therefore, in Spring of 2010, we will be seeking someone to maintain the cemeteries in paragraph 1. Interested individuals should contact one of the Commissioners.

We recently lost one of our Commissioners, “Bud” LaClair, and our sincere sympathy goes out to “Bud’s” family. “Bud” was a dedicated member of our group and we will miss him.
